Bereavement Films for Families and Professionals

The Children's Hospital Bereavement Services has two films that are available for parents and professional to better understand the experience of bereaved parents.

Grieving and Hope: Living With the Death of Your Child

This film was made by bereaved parents for bereaved parents

It was made with the hope of lessening the isolation felt by parents who have had a child die - isolation from the world of non-bereaved parents, isolation from family and isolation from friends. It is a video of peers who reinforce that parents are not alone in their struggle to move toward a ‘new normal’. It can also be shown to family members and friends to encourage their understanding. For professionals, this film can help others who would like to understand the experience of bereaved parents.

A Dad’s Journey Through Grief

This film was made by bereaved fathers for bereaved fathers

It reinforces that dads follow their own path as they journey through grief. It can be shown to family members and friends to encourage their understanding of a father’s grief. It also offers women insight into a male’s experience. For professionals, this film can help others who would like to understand the experience of bereaved fathers.
