  • Published an article for the Practice Update physician newsletter
  • Developed a survey for patients in the hospital
  • Spoke at and attended First International Conference on Family Centered Care in Boston
  • Spoke at a panel discussion for the Emergency Department staff, Department Head Meetings and Professional Affairs Committee, Ethics Conference, volunteers, Parent Empowerment Conference
  • Assisted with the dance marathon at the University  of Colorado
  • New member orientation
  • Hosted Cookie Hour for The Children's Hospital staff to meet Youth Advisory Council members
  • Participated at Day at the Capitol
  • Assisted the Planning Department on the design for the new Children’s Hospital
  • Assisted in Snowpile – a holiday gift program for patients
  • Received with the Quality Performance Department the 2002 Family Centered Care Award for developing the first Inpatient Survey
  • Attended and assisted with the first annual “Rockers for Kids”

  • Spoke at: Metro State University , University of Colorado PA Program ; panel discussion for the Division of Nursing
  • Participated in focus group to address issue of medical transition for youth with special healthcare needs.
  • Participated in a focus group with the artists for the new hospital

  • Assisted with Election Day “Kids Vote” program
  • Created 1st closed circuit TV show, YAC TV on Channel 14
  • Took a tour of the new hospital campus
  • The Youth Advisory Council has also joined with the Quality Performance Department to develop the first inpatient survey at Children’s. The survey is used to determine patient satisfaction with facilities, food, staff and the hospital on a whole. Results are tallied and shared with the hospital staff and administration.
