Stay in Touch While at The Children's Hospital
During your stay at The Children’s Hospital, it can be difficult to find the time to connect with your family and friends, and it can be hard to find the easiest way to reach them. The following is a list of the different ways you can keep others updated on your child’s progress, and also take care of any of your own personal business.
Cell Phones
Cell phones and PDA's can be used throughout the Hospital. However, please keep them on silent or vibrate mode when you are around staff or other patients and their families.
Hospital Phones
Free telephones for local calls are located throughout the hospital and in each patient room. When placing calls within the hospital, you only need to dial the last four digits of the number. For local calls outside the hospital, press "9" before dialing the number. For long distance calls, you may dial "0" for our operator or to directly access your long distance company, dial the following: Qwest *597; AT&T *598; MCI *599.
Pay phones are located throughout the hospital and by the Concierge Desk, located in the Link between the Hospital and the Administration Pavillion.
Text Telephones
TDD/TTY are available at the following locations:
Emergency Department (24 hours a day)
Volunteer office mobile unit
Department of Audiology/Speech Pathology
Near the Concierge Desk in the Link, between the hospital and the Administration Pavillion.
Pagers
If you must leave the surgery waiting area, ask the volunteer at the waiting area desk for a pager. Families often are given pagers while their children are undergoing surgery or while they are visiting clinics so that parents can walk around the hospital, yet still be available to receive reports on their child.
Wireless Internet Access
With a wireless card, you can access the Internet throughout the hospital.
Public-Access Computers
Visitors who don’t have a laptop may use one of several public-access computers in the Melvin and Elaine Wolf Foundation Family Health Library, located on the first floor off of the Boettcher Atrium.
CarePages – a personalized website for your child
We know how hard it is to keep your friends and family updated on your child’s progress. And we also know that they would love to demonstrate their support, even though they might not live nearby. That is the reason The Children’s Hospital enables you to create a personalized Web page just for your child.
CarePages is a personal and secure website just for your child where you can post news and updates about your child easily, exchange messages of support, post visiting hours and contact information, and share photos with friends and family members.
