The Procedure Center is a new addition to The Children's Hospital. The area functions as a 'mini operating room' for procedures that do not typically require a sterile field such as bronchoscopy, endoscopy and dental surgeries. The center consists of dedicated rooms for its main users including dentistry, gastrointestinal and pulmonary; in addition to shared, multi-disciplinary space.
The area, located to the north of the Boettcher Atrium and adjacent to Radiology, is staffed by Perioperative Services.
Surgical procedures at the new hospital are conducted on three floors: the procedure center on first floor, main operating rooms on second floor and cardiovascular operating rooms on third floor. This configuration supports the highest quality of patient care by positioning specialized staff and state-of-the-art post-op monitoring technologies on each unit. The design also will enhance operational efficiencies, facilitating patient flow in outpatient clinics and the Emergency Department (ED), and freeing up space in the main operating rooms.
