BEE Clinic Helps Children With Bedwetting Issues
Currently, the BEE Clinic team includes urologist
Jeffery Campbell, MD, two nurse practitioners,
Marguerite Hitchens and Adriana Nigrelli, and
will soon hire a nurse.
Parents of children with bedwetting issues are not alone: according to the National Kidney Foundation, five to seven million children in the U.S. ages six and over wet their beds at night. And TCH now offers hope with BEE (Bedwetting, Enuresis, and Encopresis), previously known as Dry Time Clinic.
At the BEE Clinic, children with bedwetting and other bladder issues receive specialized attention for bladder and bowel issues. “It takes time to uncover the child’s issues and educate the parents and child on bladder function and healthy elimination habits,” explained Adriana Nigrelli. “We are able to meet a long-standing need for a recognized, focused approach to childhood wetting issues.”
Therefore, each patient meets with the clinic’s staff can expect one-on-one attention, in which patients are offered medical consultation, testing, expert diagnosis, and coaching for healthy bladder and bowel habits. If need be, surgical resolution is also discussed.
BEE Clinic to Take Off:
The clinic’s enthusiastic staff has plans to evolve the program, including creating interactive and educational materials for parents and children. “We would like to restart parent seminars, perhaps within the next year or so,” said Nigrelli. “They will offer another option for parents to learn techniques and work on them at home prior to making an appointment or to attend the seminar as a refresher.”
