Balloon Boy Debuts
from The Children's Hospital (TCH) News, December 2006
The Children’s Hospital new tagline, “It’s All Better,” is our commitment to continuous improvement. It underscores the extraordinary care our doctors, nurses and staff provide every day.
The “face” of Children’s is about to become “better” as well. He arrived on the scene nearly 30 years ago, holding a handful of balloons. Throughout the years, he has worn a bicycle helmet, he has climbed mountains and worn hiking boots.
He is Balloon Boy.
“He needed sprucing up to show the community how far we have come over the years,” said Jennifer Leung, marketing communications manager at Children’s. “And, he also represents how much more is yet to come.”
The new Balloon Boy is more fun, more hopeful and more childlike. And, most importantly, he is completely familiar and immediately recognizable.
“With the upcoming move to the new facility, The Children’s Hospital has a unique opportunity to revitalize our beloved “Balloon Boy” icon,” said Michelle Middleton, director of marketing at Children’s. “More than just a logo, our Balloon Boy will become a symbol of all the things that kids are capable of, as well as a living icon for our new brand promise. He’ll create a set of expectations in the community about what we do, and how we do it, here at Children’s.”
He will debut to the public the week of Dec. 18 on our new website.
