In The Zone

from Shine Newsletter, Winter 2007

If your child has asthma, it's important to learn these different levels of asthma to help prevent your child's condition from getting worse.

Green Zone

Where your child should be every day, experiencing no asthma symptoms and taking regular medications.

Yellow Zone

Early symptoms of asthma may occur (wheezing and coughing); your child may experience difficulty sleeping and performing normal activities; rescue medications should be added to regular medication.

Red Zone

Your child needs urgent medical care; symptoms include frequent, severe cough, severe shortness of breath, wheezing, trouble talking or walking. Go to the emergency room or call 911.
