Heartfelt Snack Ideas
from Shine Newsletter, Winter 2006
It’s a few hours before dinner, and your child is hungry. What should you feed her?
Give your child a choice between two hearthealthy snacks, says The Children’s Hospital Clinical Dietitian Annie Moskoff, RD, CNSD. “Kids appreciate having a choice in what they snack on,” she says, “but try to keep the selection to two similar items like graham crackers and animal crackers or an apple and a banana.”
Still not sure what to offer your child? Moskoff recommends these fun and healthy snack ideas:
- Yogurt and fruit smoothie
- Graham crackers with low-fat yogurt dip
- Baked potatoes with low-fat yogurt or salsa
