Could My Child Have a Learning Disability?
from Shine Newsletter, Summer 2007
Approximately four million children and teenagers have some sort of learning disability. You can’t diagnose a learning disability simply by looking at your son or daughter, so how can you tell?
According to Meredith Puls, MEd, manager of learning services at The Children’s Hospital, the first indications of a learning disability usually includethese symptoms:
- Problems with communication
- Problems with reading, writing or math
- Difficulty paying attention
- Inability to follow directions
- Low test scores despite good preparation
If you feel your child isn’t learning as he should, he may have a learning disability and could benefit from the Learning Services Division of The Children’s Hospital. Call (720) 777-1234 for more information.
