Surrounding the Community with Care

from Shine Newsletter, Spring 2007

It’s late. Your child is running a fever. You’ve done everything you can, but his temperature keeps rising. If you’re calling your doctor’s office after regular office hours, your call may be returned by a nurse from The Children’s Hospital After Hours Telephone Care Program. Ninety percent of pediatricians in Denver and the surrounding areas rely on the highly trained nurses at The Children’s Hospital to care for their patients after office hours. The nurses will help you assess your child’s condition and determine the most appropriate action to take.

Where to Turn

Our emergency department provides 24-hour care for life-threatening illnesses and injuries, such as seizures, fractures and asthma attacks. Children’s urgent care is an option for conditions that need immediate attention, but are less serious, such as ear infections, croup, diarrhea and vomiting.

The Children’s Hospital Network of Care provides convenient emergency services and urgent care.

Among America’s Best

The Children’s Hospital ranks as one of the top 10 in the nation by Child Magazine. Five specialty areas also were recognized and were ranked as “top 10” programs.

  • Orthopedics
  • The Children’s Hospital Heart Institute
  • Emergency Department
  • Pulmonary
  • Oncology

The rankings are based on strict criteria, such as the number of complex procedures and intricate surgeries, volume of research studies, efforts to reduce medical errors, and the quality and training of doctors and nurses — as well as child-friendliness, support for families and community involvement.

We’re proud to be among America’s top children’s hospitals — and to be your choice for your child’s health-care needs.
