Get Involved to Help Kids Now!

from School Health Reporter, Winter 2006

The 2006 Colorado Legislative Session convened Jan. 11 and will meet for the next 120 days. The Children’s Hospital looks forward to working with state legislators, policy staff and community partners to improve the health and well-being of Colorado children through advocacy and public-policy change. In 2006, we plan to focus our efforts on the following priority areas:

  • Access to Care
  • Medicaid
  • Immunizations
  • Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention
  • Injury Prevention

The participation of the community in our grassroots advocacy efforts on behalf of children is an essential component of our ability to influence public-policy decisions affecting children.

An easy way to lend your voice to the cause is by joining The Children’s Hospital Grassroots Advocacy Network, a database of more than 4,000 individuals across the state who have an interest in helping kids. Network members are kept informed of current issues affecting children’s health and safety and are alerted when their help is needed on an issue. Most alerts take only a few minutes to respond to, providing easy online communications that go directly to public officials with only a few clicks of the mouse!

Additionally, Network members are invited to a number of events and educational opportunities throughout the year.

Join the Network Now!

Make it a New Year’s resolution to give a few minutes of your time to speak up on behalf of kids – a small action on your part, such as responding to a Children’s Hospital legislative action alert, can lead to big results when combined with the efforts of other advocates across the state

Let’s work together in 2006 to make Colorado a better place for kids!
