Department of Pediatrics Ranks #1 for NIH Funding

The Department of Pediatrics and University of Colorado Denver is ranked number one in peer-reviewed National Institutes of Health awards totaling $42.4 million in 2008.

Congratulations to all involved in helping with this major step toward Children’s research goal of doubling NIH funding in five years; in particular, Dr. Stephen Daniels, Children’s pediatrician in-chief, for the essential role he and his Department of Pediatrics faculty have played in securing resources which will go far in funding much-needed research for the benefit of our patients and their families.

“This acknowledgement speaks volumes about the ingenuity, dedication and skill of the department’s investigators,” said Dr. Shmerling, president and chief executive officer. “Thank you for your tireless work and for your commitment to pediatric research and the children and families we serve.”
