The Patient Move

The patient move starts at 7 a.m. on Saturday, September 29. The move will begin with a projected 80 critical care patients and continue with an estimated 90 acute care patients. Psychiatry and Behavioral Health patients will complete the move with up to 18 patients.

Earlier this year, Children’s providers and staff staged a mock move as part of preparing and refining our move plan. We will move patients in medical transportation vehicles, accompanied by teams appropriate to the level of care required. One parent/guardian will accompany each patient on the move.

Hospital support systems will provide services at both sites on move day until after the last patient is moved from our current downtown campus. Move letters and maps will be distributed to families of patients in the facility and impacted by the move and each family will have a liaison assigned to them should questions arise. Families will also be included in daily rounds which will cover move details.

Primary care physicians with patients in the hospital will be contacted once their patient's move is complete and their patient is settled at the new hospital.
