The Children’s Hospital at Parker Adventist Hospital Turns Two
from Practice Update, Spring 2006
The Children’s Hospital at Parker Adventist Hospital has grown beyond expectation during its two first years in business with its Emergency Department, 6-inpatient bed unit, and specialty clinics. Since opening, Children’s at Parker has also developed into a working model for Children’s plan for its Network of Care around the Denver metro area.
24/7 Care For Your 24/7 Kids
Since Children’s expanded its Emergency Department on January 9, its staff has seen a steady increase in cases as compared to when we first opened in February 2004.
In fact, the number of ED admissions for the month of February 2006 jumped nearly 270 percent over the number of patients seen in February 2004. In 2004, we saw 316 patients in our ED during the month of February. This year during the same month, 834 patients came to our ED at Parker. We could not have achieved this level of success without our community partners.
Mighty Milestone For Inpatient
Based on last year’s admissions, the Parker team worked hard not only to expand the ED services to 24/7 but to also support an additional four inpatient beds. These beds have been leased from Parker Adventist Hospital for the high sick season and bring our total number of inpatient beds to 10.
Specialty Clinics Bring Our Specialists to Your Neighborhood
The outpatient clinics are bustling and many have added additional days during the last 12 months. This year, we look toward more expansion and possibly the addition of at least one additional specialty at Parker. At this time our outpatient clinics include:
- Adolescent Gynecology – Gastroenterology
- Cardiology – Neurology and EEG
- Dermatology – Outpatient Laboratory Draw Site
- ENT – Pediatric Surgery
- Endocrinology – Urology and Dry Time Clinic
- Pulmonary and Pulmonary Function Testing
