Triple Chocolate Heaven Wins Ice Cream Contest
In celebration of 100 years of dedication to pediatric care this year, The Children's Hospital organized a Centennial Ice Cream Flavor Contest.
Zachary Azer, 7, tasted sweet victory when he won first place for his Triple Chocolate Heaven flavor idea, which happens to share the same initials as The Children’s Hospital. Azer was awarded an ice cream party at Liks Ice Cream Store for his Triple Chocolate Heaven creation, which includes chocolate chips, Oreos and Kit Kat Bars in vanilla ice cream.
All Children's patients and their siblings under 18 were given the opportunity to submit their own ice cream creation ingredients in hopes their flavor would become The Children’s Hospital Centennial Ice Cream Flavor. Zach came up with the flavor while waiting for his sister, Ellie, who is a patient at Children’s.
"Zach doesn’t always like coming to the hospital, but he is very supportive of his sister. So, to help pass the time we picked up one of the entry pamphlets and had a ball coming up with ingredients," said Zach’s mom.
There were a total of 120 entries for the Centennial Ice Cream Flavor contest, which made the judges’ task of voting bittersweet. After a total of 979 votes and help from Liks Ice Cream store employees, Azer came in first with 381 votes.
To get a taste of Triple Chocolate Heave (TCH) visit a Liks Ice Cream store location (13th and Vine St. in Denver or in Centennial near Arapahoe and Holly). It is also available at the gelato bar located in the atrium of The Children’s Hospital.
