NBC Nightly News Reports on H1N1 from Children's ER
NBC Nightly News
NBC Nightly News reported live from The Children's Hospital Emergency Department on the effects that the H1N1 flu is having on emergency rooms throughout the country. As the segment highlights, Children’s is taking extra precaution to avoid the spread of flu by having patients and families who visit the emergency room with flu-like symptoms wait in a separate area with face masks.
As the reporter mentions, most children exhibiting flu symptoms do not need to go to the hospital, as they will most likely get better on their own. Also, going to the hospital can potentially expose children and parents to further infection. However, children with underlying medical conditions should be seen and parents should always trust their instincts.
