Families struggle with child abuse in tough economy

7News

7News interviewed Antonia Chiesa, MD, with the hospital’s Kempe Child Protection Team, and Kempe Foundaton President Jesse Wolff about the effects of the economy on families. Added stress of economic difficulties has led to an increase in the number of child abuse cases in Colorado. The Kempe Foundation, along with doctors at The Children's Hospital, are looking at ways to help families deal with economic stress before it gets out of control.

"Don't forget to give yourself a break and ask for help when you need it. That's a real sign of strength," said Dr. Chiesa.
