Children’s CEO Commentary in The Denver Post
The Children's Hospital’s President and CEO, Jim Shmerling, DHA, FACHE, provided guest commentary in The Denver Post, to highlight the importance of making patient care a priority for all hospitals.
“Licensed children's hospitals that solely specialize in caring for complex childhood diseases are better prepared to provide the safest and most effective surgical procedures for children with complex heart conditions,” said Shmerling.
Additionally, Shmerling commends Massachusetts General Hospital, an adult hospital, for their decision to discontinue its pediatric cardiovascular surgery program after two babies suffered complications following errors that occurred during surgery.
