Kids Craving Salt? Don't Shake it Off

A USA Today article reminds parents to be mindful of their children's salt intake, as kids tend to consume too much salt in their daily diet. High intake of salt is a leading cause of blood pressure and can contribute towards obesity. In reaction, the American Medical Association (AMA) has asked the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to take salt off a list of ingredients "generally recognized as safe."
Stephen Daniels, head of pediatrics at The Children's Hospital, is quoted on the subject, "We have a lot more salt in our diets than we need," and most of it is "hidden salt," says Daniels.
