The Children's Hospital's fully integrated electronic medical record (EMR) system was featured in the Feb. 11 issue of Advance for Health Information Professionals, a trade magazine for the healthcare industry. In 2007, we became the first free-standing pediatric hospital in the country to deploy a fully integrated EMR, capping nearly five years of planning and development.
The Advance cover story features interviews with Karen Proffitt, director of health information management, Dena Somers, director of clinical information systems, and release of information manager Shandias Barnum, explaining our transition to paperless records and offering advice to other hospitals implementing an EMR.
