Surgeon and Engineer Developing Tiny Heart Pump

Francois Lacour-Gayet, MD, chair of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at The Children's Hospital, and Robin Shandas, professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine, are developing an artificial pump for kids who are born with only one ventricle.
The device, which is still under development, was featured in The Rocky Mountain News on Dec. 12.
