Pharmacy Residency Program
The Children's Hospital offers a Post-Graduate Year 1 Residency with emphasis in Pediatric Pharmacy Practice. The purpose of this program is to train highly qualified pharmacy graduates in diverse areas of clinical and operational pediatric pharmacy practice and further develop leadership skills so that they may apply these skills in any pediatric healthcare setting and assume leadership roles in the profession.

Neonatal Intensive Care

In order to provide a well-rounded, relevant program, the following experiences are also included in the program:
Major Project
Successful completion of a Major Project is required to fulfill the requirements of our residency program. These projects have focused on pediatric issues pertinent to clinical practice and quality improvement at The Children’s Hospital. The emphasis of the resident’s major project allows for the resident to contribute a valuable service to the department and the hospital. The process allows the resident to develop his or her skills in medical literature review, technical writing, in data collection and assessment, manuscript preparation and general organizational and leadership skills. Residents are encouraged to pursue publication of their major project. All major projects are presented at the yearly Western States Residency Conference in Monterey, California.
Service Commitment
Pharmacy Residents at The Children’s Hospital are valuable members of the pharmacy team. The practice experience offered to residents requires them to develop problem-solving skills, to use effective communication and supervisory skills and requires strict attention to detail. Residents gain practice experience by working as registered pharmacist every other weekend and occasionally during the week. The residents play a key role if helping the department to function and succeed in achieving our goals.
