Arrhythmia Center at The Children's Hospital
Since 1993, The Children's Hospital Arrhythmia Center , under the direction of Dr. Michael Schaffer, has been an internationally recognized program for the treatment of children with cardiac arrhythmias. Our children range in age from the fetus through the young adult, and their diagnoses include supraventricular tachycardia, atrial flutter/fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia and various degrees of atrioventricular heart block. We are proud of our track record for success in our Arrhythmia Center . We continue to strive to improve the status and healthcare of children with cardiac rhythm disorders.
Our pacemaker program remains extremely active with patients being followed with either single or dual chambered pacemakers and internal cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs). Our syncope (fainting) evaluation remains very active with over 360 office visits to the Heart Institute each year. The Electrophysiology Laboratory continues as an active treatment & research program. The patients range in age from a one-day-old neonate to early adulthood. Our catheter ablation procedures (both cryoablation and radio frequency) have also been extremely successful.
