Pregnancy

Pregnancy in teens presents additional concerns for both the mother and child’s health beyond those found in adult pregnancies. Three critical issues that are prevalent in teens are:

  • Frequency of late, inadequate prenatal care

  • Higher percentage of preterm births
  • High rates of recidivism, school failure, and welfare dependency

The Colorado Adolescent Maternity Program (C.A.M.P.) at The Children’s Hospital is a multidisciplinary prenatal and postnatal program that addresses these issues and strives to ensure the healthiest pregnancies and babies possible for teen moms.
